Joe Turner

In Kathy Hale's Brooklyn Heights apartment at 9 Cranberry Street, CIA analyst Joe Turner spends the middle stretch of the film hiding from the men hunting him while trying to piece together who ordered the killings at his CIA office. Still wearing his dark navy pea coat, he keeps Kathy hostage as guarded conversation and uneasy trust build between them, culminating in the arrival of a hitman disguised as a mailman and a violent struggle in the apartment.

A classic U.S. Navy military-issue pea coat, traditionally made from heavy Melton or Kersey wool with a short hip-length cut, broad notched lapels, double-breasted front, vertical hand-warmer slash pockets, and fouled anchor-embossed buttons. Developed for sailors as cold-weather deck wear, the dense wool construction was intended to resist wind and rain while retaining heat and allowing ease of movement.
