Doc Brown

In the late-night Twin Pines Mall parking lot, Dr. Emmett Brown unveils the DeLorean time machine to Marty McFly and Einstein and stages its first public test under the harsh lights of the empty lot. Using a remote control, he sends Einstein one minute into the future at 88 miles per hour, then explains the machine's plutonium-powered system before the Libyans arrive and turn the demonstration into a chase.

The DeLorean DMC-12 is a sports car manufactured by the DeLorean Motor Company for the American market from 1981 to 1983. Founded by John Z. DeLorean in 1975, the company produced roughly 9,000 cars before entering receivership in 1982. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign, the DMC-12 is distinguished by its unpainted brushed SS304 stainless-steel body panels and iconic gull-wing doors. Production cars used a rear-mounted 2.85-liter PRV V6 engine, available with a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission, with a fiberglass underbody and non-structural stainless-steel exterior panels over a steel backbone chassis developed with Lotus input. In Back to the Future, the car appears in its signature stainless-steel finish with extensive time-machine modifications including roof-mounted equipment, rear vents, and external cabling built onto the DMC-12 platform.
